Supabase

Supabase is the database. It holds names, households, and logins. It does not live on GitHub. Do not put member names in a public GitHub file.

  1. Open supabase.com in a new tab.
  2. Click Start your project.
  3. Sign in with GitHub if you can. One login is easier to keep.
  4. Click New project.
  5. If it asks for an organization, name it after your church.
  6. Project name: your church name.
  7. Database password: write a long password in a notebook first, then type it. You cannot see this password again.
  8. Region: pick the one closest to your church.
  9. Click Create new project. Wait until the dashboard says it is ready. This can take a few minutes.
  10. Open the gear, then API. Some dashboards say Project Settings, then API.
  11. Copy Project URL. In Netlify this name is NEXT_PUBLIC_SUPABASE_URL.
  12. Copy the anon public key. In Netlify this name is NEXT_PUBLIC_SUPABASE_PUBLISHABLE_KEY.
  13. Copy the service_role key. In Netlify this name is SUPABASE_SERVICE_ROLE_KEY. Never put this key in the browser, in email, or on a slide.

The project is empty until the table files run. That is not this page. Finish Resend first. Then paste the three names into Netlify.
