GitHub
GitHub is a website that stores computer files. You need a copy of the app under your own name so your church owns it.
- Open github.com in a new tab.
- Click Sign up.
- Use a church email if you have one. Write the password in a notebook.
- Open the email GitHub sends. Click the confirm link.
- Open github.com/garrisondgriff/smallchurch-chms.
- Click Fork in the upper right. Fork means make your own copy. Your members' names are not in this copy.
- Wait until GitHub shows the files under your username.
- Write that web address in your notebook. You will pick this copy on the next page.
If Fork is confusing, download the zip from this site. On GitHub, click New repository, then upload that folder. Fork is one click. The zip is the same files.
If GitHub asks you to create a password or a passkey, pick one you can find again. Do not use your bank password.
